Basic Recipe Analysis

This service is only available for those who are already using the RFN Formulation Spreadsheet. For all other recipe analysis inquiries, please see other recommendation professionals here.

A recipe analysis reviews your dog’s current diet to point out potential nutritional imbalances and deficiencies. The analysis includes recommendations for immediate supplementation and notes on improving the recipe, if necessary.

Detailed follow-up is not included, but you will receive options for a partial recipe formulation based on the recipe analysis at a discounted cost.

IMPORTANT: Your recipe must already be entered into the RFN Spreadsheet, including quantities and nutritional information for all ingredients. No additional nutritional information will be entered for ingredients missing nutritional information, and analysis will be done on the recipe as entered into your spreadsheet.

1 Recipe – $15

Prices are per recipe for one animal. Please contact us if you want analysis for multiple recipes or a recipe for multiple pet.

FAQs

What if I can’t find the ingredients?

Ingredient sourcing and availability is taken into consideration during the process! The intake form includes a section where you list the ingredients you have easy access to. But if, after you receive the recipe, you realize that you cannot source an ingredient in the recipe, we can adjust the recipe to replace it. All recipe formulations do include time for adjustments.

Are the recipes raw or cooked?

They can be both, or a mix! Fresh, homemade diets can be made with raw or cooked foods, so recipes are formulated to NRC requirements, using whatever ingredients the client is comfortable with or prefers.

Does this include grains, fruits or vegetables?

Not if you don’t want to! I will work with you to formulate a recipe that best matches your pet’s needs and your preferences. A small amount of plant matter is recommended to meet fiber requirements, but supplements can be used instead if preferred.

My dog has allergies or intolerances – can you work around those?

If your pet is currently experiencing allergic reactions, I would recommend working with a more advanced nutrition professional. If there are just a few ingredients you would like me to avoid in your recipe, I can work with that!

What if my dog doesn’t do well on the recipe?

Each recipe includes some adjustment time so that we can tweak it if necessary. If you pet is especially sensitive to changes in diet, be sure to mention it so we can transition slowly and carefully.

What does the half hour of adjustments and follow-up include? What if I need more time?

The half hour of adjustment can include minor changes to caloric intake, supplement types, ingredient quantities and substitutions. Follow-up includes clarifying emails or questions. If major changes are needed, or questions that required detailed answers beyond the scope of the half hour, you will receive a quote for the additional time needed.

Why are the recipes only for one dog? Can’t I use it for my other dog too?

If your dogs are exactly the same – same weight and energy levels, one recipe might work for both dogs. However, since recipes are created for individual dogs and their energy needs, size and nutrient needs, a recipe that is balanced and complete for one dog would not be for another.
